Common Questions

FAQs

Printing and sublimation apply ink on top of the surface — it degrades with washing, UV exposure, and daily use. Most printed bottles fade within 6–12 months. Laser engraving physically removes material from the stainless steel, creating a permanent mark that cannot fade, peel, or wash off. It survives dishwashers and daily use indefinitely.

UV printing uses ultraviolet light to cure ink directly onto the surface, producing vibrant full-color designs with gradients, photos, and complex artwork. Our 5D UV wrap technology curves the print seamlessly around the product. UV prints are durable and scratch-resistant (3–5+ years), while laser engraving is the most permanent option (lifetime). Choose engraving for permanence, UV for full-color impact.

The Bottle Built for Your Commute. And Your Coffee.

16oz is the coffee-and-commute size. Big enough for your morning coffee and a few hours of water. Small enough to fit in a laptop bag side pocket, a cup holder, a crowded gym locker.

The Emerald is made from 316L steel — the same grade used in medical and marine equipment — not the cheaper 18/8 most bottles use. Two colors. Steel lid. Free engraving. The commuter bottle that doesn't quit early.

Emerald Selling 1 316 Steel V2

Medical Grade. Not Kitchen Grade.

Most stainless steel bottles use 18/8 (304) steel — the same grade as kitchen appliances. The Emerald uses 316L — the grade specified for surgical instruments, marine equipment, and food processing.

316L has higher corrosion resistance, higher salt tolerance, and lower reactivity. Your coffee doesn't react with the walls of your bottle the same way it does in a 304-grade container.

"I switched from a bottle I'd had for years and immediately noticed my coffee tasted cleaner. I thought it was in my head so I did some research — turns out 316L steel has significantly lower reactivity than the 18/8 in my old bottle. The difference is real. This is the only bottle I'll use for coffee now."

— Daniel K., Vancouver

Emerald Selling 2 Ultralight V3

Same Insulation. Less Weight.

The Emerald 16oz is designed for daily carry — thinner walls without sacrificing insulation. 12-hour cold retention, 6-hour hot, double-wall vacuum sealed. But lighter and slimmer than bottles with the same specs.

The difference is noticeable when you're carrying it all day.

LAMOSE Emerald 16oz Onyx — steel lid close-up, 3/4 hero angle

316L Bottle. 316L Lid.

The Emerald lid is stainless steel — not plastic. Matching material throughout. The same quality standard on the outside of the lid as the inside of the bottle.

Steel doesn't crack in cold weather, doesn't warp in the dishwasher, and doesn't create bacteria-harboring grooves over time.

"Coffee in the morning, water all afternoon — same bottle. The steel lid was the thing that actually got me to buy. Every other bottle I looked at had plastic touching your mouth. This one doesn't. Small detail that makes a big difference every single day."

— Marcus T., Calgary

Emerald Selling 4 Commuter V2

Your Office Bottle. With Your Name on It.

Two colors — Onyx (matte black) and Snow (clean white). Both with free laser engraving. Your name on your commuter bottle means it doesn't get mixed up in the conference room, doesn't come home in someone else's bag.

Permanent, dishwasher-proof, no extra charge.

316L Steel Doesn't Have to Cost $90 USD

Most "premium" bottles with 316L steel cost $65–90 USD — Klean Kanteen's 316 line, certain Hydro Flask models. The Emerald is $40 CAD with a steel lid and free engraving included.

Quality steel doesn't have to be expensive. You're not paying for a brand story — you're paying for the material.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between 316L and 18/8 (304) steel?

18/8 steel (also called 304) is the standard used in most water bottles and kitchen equipment. 316L adds molybdenum, which significantly increases resistance to corrosion, pitting, and chemical attack from acids and chlorides. This is why 316L is specified for surgical instruments, marine hardware, and food processing equipment. In a water bottle, it means less reactivity with acidic drinks like coffee, juice, and kombucha.

Why does the steel grade matter for coffee?

Coffee is acidic. Over time, the slight reactivity of standard 304 steel can affect taste — particularly noticeable with specialty coffee. 316L is pH-stable and has lower reactivity with acidic beverages. What goes in tastes like itself.

How long does it keep drinks cold or hot?

12 hours cold, 6 hours hot. Double-wall vacuum insulation between two stainless steel walls. Fill it in the morning and it's still cold by late afternoon.

Why does the lid matter — why steel instead of plastic?

Plastic lids crack in cold weather, can warp in the dishwasher, and develop micro-grooves over time that harbour bacteria. The Emerald's steel lid matches the body material — same corrosion resistance, same durability. It also means no plastic touching your lips or your drink.

How does the free engraving work?

Add your engraving details during checkout. Your name, initials, date, or short message — laser-engraved permanently into the steel. Dishwasher-proof, won't fade or peel. Free with every bottle, checked by our team in Calgary before it ships.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes. Both the bottle and the steel lid are dishwasher safe. Top rack recommended. The 316L steel interior has no coating to degrade and handles any washing method.

How does the price compare to other 316L bottles?

Most bottles marketed with 316L steel — Klean Kanteen's premium line, select Hydro Flask models — run $65–90 USD. The Emerald 16oz is $40 CAD (approximately $29 USD) and includes a steel lid and free engraving. You're getting the material, not a brand premium.
